Meta

Meta is a department of Colombia located in the geographical centre of Colombia, to the East of the Andean mountains. It is crossed by a river and is largely covered by the Llanos, a grassland plain. Its capital is Villavicencio. It has a large total area of approximately 86.000km2 and a comparatively low population of about 925.000 inhabitants. Although figures for the number of victims are uncertain, an estimated 190.000 people have been affected by conflict, mostly through forced displacement.
